The Indian festival of Deepavali or Diwali is just a week away now. For the uninitiated it's on Nov 4th this year and unlike previous year's Diwali which was dulled due to a raging Covid19 pandemic, this year thing's are truly looking more luminous with most of the population having been vaccinated and the fear of being out and about a little dulled, if not gone altogether. So Diwali 2021 should be all about dressing up, lighting up, celebrating with near and dear ones, and bursting a cracker or two. Even if Diwali 2021 cannot be a full blown event with a huge public gathering, it still doesn't need to be for you to look your festive best!

So here's our curated guide on Latest Fashion Trends in Indian Ethnic Wear Perfect For Diwali 2021

 1. Block print Anarkalis and kurtas

Block print anarkali kurta set

The anarkali is a classic ethnic wear for women that you can never go wrong with. Even though the Anarkali has been around forever, it evolves every now and then keeping up with the fashion fabric, print and style of the season.  In 2021, the block printed anarkali has seen a big boost and many influencers are rocking the look.  Here's two of our favourite block printed Anarakli kurta sets for your Diwali look this year that can both for day as well as night look. One's an Indigo Dabu print Anarkali set in Indigo blue and white and the other is a pretty pink block printed anarkali with an embroidered neck and white dupatta.

 2. Mirror work lehengas

Mirror work lehengas for women

Hey look, I was out on the streets yesterday and all around me were store mannequins adorning pretty mirror work lehengas! Taking a nod from Bollywood divas like who've been seen in mirror work lehengas, this year's hottest ethnic trend is mirror work lehengas. This is our pick of two mirror-work lehengas. One in pretty baby pink lehenga with foil mirror work on the blouse and border by Myra couture, and the other is a silk mirror work blouse that you can pair with your own lehenga skirt or crop skirt.

 3. Crop top and flared skirts

crop top with skirt lehenga

Giving the traditional lehenga choli and dupatta set a break, the alternative of a crop top with a flared skirt in Indian ethnic fabrics like silk, crepe and georgette is also catching on. What's not to like about the option to mix and match your own crop top with a skirt that fits well. But in case you're looking for crop top and lehenga sets, here's our two picks. First one's a fuschia crop top and skirt in foil print in taffeta silk fabric  and the other one is a peppy yellow crop top and skirt with frills for a more casual vibe.

4. Clothes in Pantone colour of the year 2021 - Ultimate Gray

Grey lehenga and grey suit with palazzo set

Now Grey isn't a colour you immediately think of as "Indian" or particularly festive but boy are things changing! This erstwhile "dull and drab" colour is now making the right Indian ethnic moves. All you need is a bit of a shimmer in the grey and some mirror work, embroidery or a gold lace, and suddenly grey is the multipurpose colorr that manages to look respectable and serious and yet sophisticated and even ethnic enough! After all, "Ultimate Grey" is the Pantone colour of the year for 2021.  Here's our recommendations for two stunning grey diwali outfits. The first is a grey net lehenga with a cropped top with a deep v-neck with beautiful sequin work in geometric pattern by Myra Couture  and the second is a shimmery grey salwar suit with palazzo set with delicate gold thread work by Cheera.

5. Kundan Jewelry  or Kundan Inspired jewelry

Looks like the Kundan jewelry wave is here to stay. A hot favourite since Sabyasachi brought it into the mainstream, Kundan jewelry is again a classic that doesn't only stand the test of the time but also evolves with it. This year, the Kundan Choker (with some Polki style)  is all the rage, especially with a crop top and lehenga look. If you want to keep it light but still incorporate Kundan into your wardrobe, then there's just Kundan earrings like Kundan Jhumkas, Kundan danglers, and Kundan pendants to lend that touch of class and sophistication that only Kundan can.

6. Kurta set for men with Nehru jacket (Modi jacket)

Why should girls have all the fun? So we present the trending ethnic wear for men too!  So while there hasn't been much change in men's ethnic wear and the staple remains the classic kurta set, the Nehru jacket has really made a comeback and how! From solid Nehru jackets to now floral and printed Nehru jackets, the Nehru jacket is all men need to take their ethnic game from basic to trendy.  For inspiration, we're taking the example of this classic solid silk nehru jacket in navy colour and for a bolder style, this floral printed kurta jacket in yellow hues.
