However, they also meet some characters who set the stage for the epic war that unfolds later, such the king of Lanka and great devotee of lord Shiva, Ravana and his sister, Shurpanakha.
The fourth book in Valmiki’s Ramayana traces the search for Sita. Rama and Lakshmana meet the exiled vanara king, Sugriva, and his trusted friend and general, Hanuman. Rama helps Sugriva win his kingdom back, who, in return, promises Rama to track down Sita with the help of his vanara soldiers.
